Pleystowe Mill No.8 was one of the many Fowler products working in the sugar mill railways of Queensland.  Following retirement it was placed in the Progress Association Park in the beachside town of Bucasia, north of Mackay.  Presumably it became derelict – no doubt the humid, salty air of a beachside town would not have helped - as this locomotive was removed and disposed as scrap metal in 1977.

The little that I know of Pleystowe Mill No.8 is based on John Browning’s listing of preserved sugar cane locomotives on the Light Railway Research Society of Australia website. A contribution of a photograph for this locomotive (either when in service or plinthed at Bucasia) would be most welcome, together with any further information relating to its unfortunate loss.
