This engine
is one of many Fowler steam locomotives supplied to the sugar railways of
Queensland. This particular example worked at the Marian Mill which is situated
alongside the Pioneer River and the township of Marian, west of Mackay. Apparently
the Marian Mill Fowler is privately owned and kept at Mirani, a sugar hamlet
a little further west of Marian Mill. The little
that I know of the Marian Mill Fowler is based on John Browning’s listing of
preserved sugar cane locomotives on the Light Railway Research Society of
Australia website, as referenced below. I would greatly appreciate the contribution of a photograph for this locomotive,
or any further information about its disposition. |
